5 Ways to Restart Your New Year
5 Ways to Restart Your New Year
We have all heard the saying that we cannot take care of others without taking care of ourselves. This statement holds true more now than ever before. You are no good to others if you are not healthy and well. Start the New Year off the right way by doing some good for yourself. This means taking time to do what you need for you. This is not selfish, as in the end, makes you a more focused, relaxed, healthy human who can care for others. Here are some ways to get started:
- Think About what worked well for you last year, and what didn’t. We learn the most from our mistakes, as long as we choose to ensure they don’t happen again. Continue to do what worked for you, and think about the changes you need (or want) to make.
- What are things you want more time for in your life? Now, think about how you are going to make that happen. People make changes everyday, and you can too!
- Take time for “YOU”! Spend 5-10 minutes doing some yoga, deep breathing, reading, etc. Whatever makes you happy and will help you start your day, or reset your (bad) day.
- Focus on the positive. Reliving negative thoughts and events can lead to post traumatic stress. Why torture yourself on things that you cannot change? Instead, focus on the positive.
- Continue to appreciate what you have. As humans, it is in our nature to always want more. But if 2020 has taught us anything, it is to slow down and enjoy the things in life that we do have. Be grateful for what you have and think about how you can use that to measure your happiness and successfulness.
